Caliente Pizza & Draft House chef Eric Von Hansen and owner Nick Bogacz will put their Italian cooking chops up against some serious competition this month, as they head to Italy for two competitions.

Von Hansen is the sole American selected to compete for the international Heinz Beck Trophy in Parma, Italy, according to WordWrite Communications.

The competition is named after Michelin-star chef and culinary legend Heinz Beck. With no advance preparation, chefs will be required to create a recipe for a first-course Italian dish and complete it in under 30 minutes.

The competition takes place at the World Pizza Championship from April 9-11.

Von Hansen will step out of his pizza comfort zone and prepare a secret noodle dish instead, the release states. Only entrants whose recipes are selected are invited to compete in Parma.

He and Bogacz also will compete in the “pizza duo” Pizza World Championships.

The pair were invited to join the team this year after winning three world championship titles at the annual International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas.
