Diamond Theatre of Ligonier holding Christmas play auditions
Auditions will soon take place for a production Diamond Theatre of Ligonier owner Leigh Ann Rice-McCulty has written for the holiday season.
“‘The Christmas Storm of the Century’ is a funny and heartwarming play about Christmas Eve shenanigans that take place when a family get-together turns out to be longer than expected because of the storm,” Rice-McCulty says.
The family is stuck together, with a storm brewing on the outside and personalities clashing inside the home, she adds.
The storm also is causing havoc at the North Pole. The elves are in a tizzy because Christmas may get canceled, and their only hope of fixing Santa’s sleigh is calling the dreaded Boris.
Will the storm let up? Will Christmas indeed be canceled?
“The Christmas Storm of the Century” show dates are 6 p.m. Dec. 6, 3 and 6 p.m. Dec. 7 and 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at the theater, 210 W. Main St.
Auditions will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 29 and 6 to 8 p.m Oct. 1. They are expected to last only 5 to 10 minutes, Rice-McCulty says.
Rehearsals will begin Oct. 8 and will be held thereafter from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Producers are seeking actors age 8 and up, with no experience required.
“We have big parts and small parts as well,” she says.
