Stage AE will reopen for live shows on Aug. 11 with up-and-coming bluegrass-fusion artist Billy Strings.

“He’s a really exciting national bluegrass act,” said Amy Cooper, Stage AE Director of Marketing. “He’s never headlined a tour before.”

Named “one of string music’s most dynamic young stars” by Rolling Stone and “a premier guitar flatpicker of this era” by The Wall Street Journal, the 28-year-old musician got his stage name from an aunt impressed by his childhood guitar chops.

His Grammy Award-winning album, “Home,” topped Billboard’s 2020 year-end chart in both Top Bluegrass Artist and Top Bluegrass Album categories.

Also coming to the Pittsburgh North Shore venue that month are Louis the Child — Euphoria Tour, Aug. 12; Pittsburgh Summer Beerfest, Aug. 13-14; Modest Mouse, Aug. 18; and a Steelers preseason tailgate, Aug. 21.

The upcoming concert and special event schedule includes a mix of shows that were postponed during the pandemic and new dates, Cooper said. There will be both indoor and outdoor shows.

With the lifting of pandemic restrictions, audiences will be at full capacity, she said.

Big-name acts on the schedule include Lady A, Sept. 5; St. Vincent, Sept. 8; The Struts, Sept. 12; New Found Glory, Sept. 28; Mt. Joy and Trampled by Turtles, Oct. 2; Tech N9ne, Nov. 3; The Flaming Lips, Nov. 11; and Louis Tomlinson, Feb. 14.

Stage AE will host the Official Steelers Tailgates on all home game days at Heinz Field. The region’s largest tailgate event offers free admission, live music, food and drink specials and chances to win prizes and autographed items.

“We are beyond thrilled to be able to bring live music back to Pittsburgh,” Cooper said. “We’d like to thank our fans and partners for their patience and support for these last 15 months.”

All tickets previously purchased on Ticketmaster will be honored for rescheduled shows and will not need to be exchanged. Ticket-holders in need of customer service on those tickets should reach out to Ticketmaster directly.
