The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is promising one of the most diverse music lineups ever assembled for this year’s Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival.

Running June 3-12, the free concerts will begin at 7 p.m. nightly on the Dollar Bank Main Stage, at the intersection of Ninth Street and Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh’s downtown Cultural District.

Traditionally held in the Cultural District and nearby Point State Park, this year’s festival will take place solely in the Cultural District because of new rules implemented for park usage by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

“We are very excited to showcase this diverse lineup of world-renowned talented musicians during this year’s festival,” festival director Sarah Aziz said. “We are also pleased to say that more diverse music programming with local and regional connections will be announced in May along with a complete lineup of performing and visual arts attractions.”

The featured music lineup for this year’s festival includes:

• June 3 — Cory Henry, a Grammy Award-winner with progressive jazz-rock improvisers Snarky Puppy, the singer and keyboard wizard has a recent solo album, “Something to Say,” that also was nominated for a 2022 Grammy in the Best Progressive R&B album category.

Opening show at 6 p.m.: Selecta.

• June 4 — Madeline Edwards

• June 5 — Sierra Hull, a bluegrass mandolin master, made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry when she was 10. The 28-year-old Tennessee native was nominated for a Best Folk Album Grammy in 2017.

Opening show at 6 p.m.: Brooke Annibale.

• June 6 — Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of assistant conductor Jacob Joyce. The performance will include popular works by Bach and Haydn, a “Build Your Own Beethoven Symphony” featuring highlight movements from several of Beethoven’s most influential and innovative symphonies, and Rossini’s overture to “The Barber of Seville.”

• June 7 — Lizz Wright, a vocalist acclaimed as a steward of American music who performs original works by some of the greatest songwriters of modern times.

• June 8 — Bette Smith, a Brooklyn-born soul singer whose gospel-inflected throwback style evokes other Bettys of the past, such as Betty Wright and funk pioneer Betty Davis.

• June 9 — A triple-bill, kicking off with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, combining New Orleans brass band sounds with a hefty dose of funk and improvisational jazz. Next up is Eric Krasno & The Assembly, led by the founder/guitarist of jam-band giants Lettuce and jazz-funk combo Soulive. Topping off the evening is Southern rock/blues artist The Devon Allman Project, carrying on the legacy of The Allman Brothers

• June 10 — Nick Lowe’s Quality Rock & Roll Revue Starring Los Straitjackets, combining one of rock ’n’ roll’s most distinctive, underrated voices in Nick Lowe with one of the world’s most fun instrumental bands, the luchador-masked surf-rock mystery men Los Straitjackets.

Opening show at 6 p.m.: Tommy McLain + CC Adcock

• June 11 — Goodie Mob, which launched the career of rapper/singer CeeLo Green and — along with frequent collaborators Outkast — helped move the center of the hip-hop world South to Atlanta. All original Goodie Mob members, including Big Gipp, Cee-Lo, Khujo and T-Mo, are assembling for this performance.

• June 12 — Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, led by the son of Afrobeat progenitor Fela Kuti. Femi Kuti began his career in his father’s band, Egypt 80, and charted his own course with Positive Force starting in 1986.

For the outdoor concerts, festival guests can expect standing room in front of the stage. Guests who prefer to sit can bring portable chairs to place on the street.

“Everyone is welcome to come together and be a part of these free, one-of-a-kind music experiences that truly celebrate the arts in our Cultural District,” Aziz said.

The complete lineup of performing and visual arts attractions for the 2022 Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will be announced in May. Additional concert details will be posted on the festival website at traf/trustarts.org.
