Mötley Crüe announces new tour with Def Leppard and Poison

Mötley Crüe is back.

Never mind that contract from 2014 stating that the band would go on tour one final time and would never, never go out on the road together again.

That contract was blown up - really, there’s video.

The band announced Monday that they are heading out on a U.S. stadium tour in 2020 and will be joined on the blockbuster tour with Def Leppard and Poison. Dates and cities have not been announced.

The band said in a release that the Netflix bio-pic “The Dirt,” about the band’s formative years, sparked a renewed interest in the band from younger fans. The creation of the movie also brought the band closer and landed back in the studio.

The band finished the “Final Tour” on New Year’s Eve in 2015, and bandmates bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead guitarist Mick Mars and lead singer Vince Neil went their separate ways.

But Colson Baker, aka Machine Gun Kelly, who portrayed Lee in the movie, said that fans were asking to see the Crue live.

“Since playing Tommy Lee in ‘The Dirt,’ so many of my fans have said how they wish they could’ve seen the real Mötley Crüe play live,” said Baker in the release. “I never thought I would see the day when this would become a reality. But the fans spoke and Mötley Crüe listened!”

Prior to their 2014-15 farewell tour the band made a big promotion of signing a “cessation of touring agreement.”

Mötley Crüe will join a list of acts to go back on the road after farewell tours, including Kiss, The Who, Black Sabbath, Phil Collins, Ozzy Osbourne and others, according to Rolling Stone.

The Crüe last played the Pittsburgh area in 2014 with a show in Burgettstown.

The band’s top-selling albums from the 1980s include “Shout at the Devil,” “Theater of Pain,” “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Dr. Feelgood.”
