Gipsy Kings bringing flamenco-salsa sound to Munhall music hall

The Grammy-nominated flamenco/salsa group The Gipsy Kings will perform on Sept. 18 at the Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall, 510 E 10th Ave., Munhall.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. April 19 at 877-4-FLY-TIX, ticketfly.com and librarymusichall.com. Tickets will be $67.95-$77.95, with limited Gold Circle seating available at $97.95.

Venue presale begins at 10 a.m. April 18 with the passcode “MUSICHALL.”

“It has been 25 years since the Gipsy Kings captured the world’s imagination with their self-titled debut album — a record that became a genuine phenomenon, certified gold and platinum around the globe, introducing millions of listeners to a unique, irresistible blend of traditional flamenco styles with Western pop and Latin rhythms,” says promoter Drusky Entertainment. “Since then, the band has toured virtually non-stop, to the farthest-flung corners of the planet, and sold almost 20 million albums, all the while retaining the same line-up of virtuoso musicians.”

Their music also incorporates elements of Arabic music, reggae and jazz guitar reminiscent of French Gypsy master Django Reinhardt.

Their latest release is 2013’s “Savor Flamenco.” The group’s ninth studio album marked the first time the Kings produced themselves and wrote all of the material.

The group recently performed their version of “Volare” on an episode of “Dancing with the Stars.” Their rendition of “Hotel California” was included in the film “The Big Lebowski” and on the HBO series “Entourage.” The 2010 film “Toy Story 3” featured their version of the movie’s Randy Newman-penned theme, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”
