The Friday Evening Music Club will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. March 29 in the Campana Chapel and Lecture Hall at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg in Hempfield.
The recital will open with a piece by French baroque composer J. B. Boismortier, performed by Linda Urbani, Chuck Kauric and Michele Boulet, flutes; Cheryl Beuten, harpsichord, and Sam Mraz, viola da gamba.
Clarinetist James Caffrey Jr. and guest pianist Ronna Jean Yeager will share two movements of the Concerto in B-flat Major by Carl Stamitz.
The recital also will feature the club’s 2019 Mildred Gardner Scholarship Competition winner, soprano Megan Swift. The Franklin Regional High School senior will perform art songs by Giovanni Pergolesi and Richard Hagema, along with songs from musicals, accompanied by Matt Klumpp.
Ending the performance will be Pittsburgh flutist Sarah Steranka and Klumpp, playing Eldin Burton’s Sonatina.
Admission is by donation. A reception will follow.
The club sponsors a yearly geranium sale to support the Mildred Gardner Scholarship awarded each year to a high school senior who will be majoring in music in college. Geraniums may be ordered from club members or by contacting the organization through its website.
