The Eagles returning to Pittsburgh with 'Hotel California' Tour
The legendary rock band The Eagles are extending their “Hotel California” 2022 Tour, adding a concert date for March 26 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
The group will perform its iconic “Hotel California” album in its entirety with an accompanying orchestra and choir followed by a greatest hits set.
Tickets go on sale Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com. A limited number of VIP packages will also be available.
This particular incarnation of The Eagles includes Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Deacon Frey and Vince Gill.
“Hotel California” is the third-highest selling U.S. album in history, having been certified 26-times Platinum by the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA). After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and won multiple Grammy Awards. Several of the songs from the album have not been performed since the original “Hotel California” tour.
Produced by Live Nation, the tour is capitalizing on a popular trend featuring super groups performing complete versions of popular albums. Founding Beach Boys members Brian Wilson and Al Jardine performed the group’s groundbreaking “Pet Sounds” album in its entirety at the Benedum Center in 2016.
Reviews of the “Hotel California” tour have been positive with Billboard saying the songs have aged well.
“But how could they fail with the Eagles’ five-part harmony and five guitar approach. … (Henley’s) voice sounded as strong and pliant as it ever has, easily hitting the highest of notes, while retaining his trademark huskiness,” the review said.
The Eagles were the best-selling American band of the ‘70s with six number one albums and five chart-topping songs including, “Best of my Love,” “One of these Nights,” “New Kid In Town,” “Hotel California” and “Heartache Tonight.”
The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, its first year of eligibility.
