Fans will have to wait until next year to celebrate the 50th anniversary tour of the Doobie Brothers.

The band, which canceled its Sept. 4th appearance at the Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, has moved the concert to July 9, 2022 according to the group’s website.

The band announced via social media in September that is was canceling the show because “a member of the touring personnel” tested positive for covid-19.

Performances at three other venues —- Clarkston, Mich., Toledo and Cincinnati — were also canceled.

The group was to be onstage with Michael McDonald. He was rejoining the band as he has done in the past to celebrate five decades of making music.

McDonald did not perform during a previous ht show at the Minnesota State Fair. During that show, co-founder Patrick Simmons, a singer/guitarist, said McDonald was not feeling well, according to the Star Tribune.

The Doobie Brothers performance was the second show that week canceled at Star Lake. KISS was unable to play Aug. 26 because singer Paul Stanley tested positive for covid-19. The band is set to play Oct. 13.

The Doobie Brothers band originated in Northern California. It recorded its first album in 1971. Popular songs include “What a Fool Believes,” “Minute by Minute,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Black Water,” and “China Grove.” The group has won four Grammy awards and sold more than 48 million records.
