Bon Jovi cancels tour so fans can get refunds to ‘pay their bills or buy groceries’

With many musical acts postponing shows and leaving fans awaiting word on what’s going on with tours amid the coronavirus pandemic, Bon Jovi has decided to cancel its planned summer tour.

The band in a statement said that it decided to ax the tour so people who bought tickets could get a refund and “pay their bills or buy groceries.”

The band acknowledged that these are trying times, but fans have “always been there for us, and we’ll always be there for you.”

“Due to the ongoing global pandemic, it is no longer feasible for Bon Jovi to tour this summer,” the statement reads. “Given these difficult times, we have made the decision to cancel the tour entirely. This will enable ticketholders to get refunds to help pay their bills or buy groceries. These are trying times. You’ve always been there for us and we’ll always be there for you. We look forward to seeing everyone again on tour when we can all safely be together. We will continue to send out news and updates on Bon Jovi touring in the weeks and months to come.”

The band is set to release a new album, “Bon Jovi 2020,” on May 15. The announced 18-date tour with Bryan Adams was set to start in June. The tour did not include a Pittsburgh stop.

Jon Bon Jovi is set to appear Wednesday night as part of the “Jersey 4 Jersey” concert in support of the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund.

The band currently features Jon Bon Jovi, with original members David Bryan (keyboards), who recently recovered from the covid-19 disease, and Tico Torres (drums). They are joined by Hugh McDonald (bass guitar) and Phil X (guitar).

Bon Jovi last performed in Pittsburgh in 2017 at PPG Paints Arena on the “This House Is Not For Sale” tour.
