The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra and Latrobe Presbyterian Church present the Summer Chamber Music Series finale in the historic Unity Chapel in Latrobe, 114 Chapel Lane.
The concert at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 features Beo String Quartet. Now in its fourth season, the quartet is comprised of violinists Jason Neukom and Aviva Hakanoglu, Sean Neukom on viola and Ryan Ash on cello.
Based in Pittsburgh, Beo has performed more than 80 concert works in the U.S. and Europe — including more than 30 world premieres — and produced dozens of recordings.
Founder Neukom is the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra’s associate concertmaster.
“The age range for the concert is teens and adults, but we’ve had many elementary age children who study music often attend the programs,” says Joy Carroll, orchestra marketing manager.
“The quartet teaches chamber music skills and a love for classical music to students ranging from complete beginners to pre-professionals alike,” she says.
Through its educational tours of elementary, middle and high schools; its short-term residencies at colleges and universities, and its annual residency at Dakota Chamber Music, Beo has shared these unique, engaging experiences with more than 3,000 students to date.
The evening’s program includes Haydn: String Quartet, Op. 76, No. 4 “Emperor,” Kyle Sanna: Sequence for Minor White, Dvořák: String Quartet No.12, Op.96 “American.”
General admission seating is $10 at the door, with proceeds benefiting the WSO Youth Orchestra Program.
