We’ve almost reached the end of July. Besides the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix in Schenley Park, which is back on track Saturday and Sunday after missing last year because of the pandemic, here are five other things to do while it’s still summer.
Taking it to the streets
“OpenStreetsPGH” visits Hazelwood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The event temporarily closes roads to car traffic for two miles, and invites people to re-imagine its streets as places to walk, run, bike, skate, roll, dance, and just enjoy the road.
There will be food for sale from local vendors and activities for children hosted by local organizations.
The series of events held throughout the summer in different areas of the city is organized by Bike Pittsburgh, a non-profit organization that works to transform streets and communities into healthy spaces by making them safe for exercise.

Go a mile
The 10th annual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile is 7 p.m. Friday in Downtown. It is the first live racing event in more than a year hosted by P3R.
The event is the city’s fastest one-mile timed road race. It is a USA Track and Field record-standard certified course. The race starts on Penn Avenue, between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street in the Cultural District, and finishes on Liberty Avenue near Triangle Park. The start and finish lines are a block apart so it’s convenient for spectators.
Runners include recreational as well as professional athletes in a nighttime race. There will be 22 pro-milers competing for prize money of more than $28,000.

WWE
Pittsburgh wrestling fans will be able to see John Cena on Saturday at PPG Paints Arena, Uptown when WWE visits for a house show.
As part of WWE’s “The Summer of Cena,” the 16-time world champion will be a part of 15 of the wrestling organization’s house shows and TV events like “Smackdown” and “Raw.”
Cena’s appearances will likely lead to a return to the ring at SummerSlam against Roman Reigns for the title.
Cena is appearing in “F9,” the latest film in the “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. He also has “The Suicide Squad” releasing in August, and he just wrapped filming on “The Peacemaker” series for HBO Max.
