5 things to do in Pittsburgh this weekend: Aug. 6-8
This first weekend of August is predicted to be a hot one. Here are some ways to enjoy those warm temperatures.
Millvale Music Festival
Approximately 250 bands, comedy acts, spoken word performances and visual artists will perform at the Millvale Music Festival. The performances run Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to past midnight. This is its largest lineup for the fourth annual event. Entertainment will take place at 24 venues across Millvale, including Grist House, Mr. Smalls Theatre, Cousins Lounge, Good Time Bar and Lumberjaxes.
There will be local food trucks.

Imagine
The Pittsburgh Savoyards will present “The Imaginary Invalid” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the production company’s headquarters on Lincoln Avenue in Bellevue.
The show is the story of Argan, a hypochondriac, who makes everyone in his life miserable. His second wife schemes to inherit his estate. His daughter, Angélique, is in love with a man named Cléante, but Argan wants her to marry a medical student to secure free medical care for himself.
Tickets are $15.

Squonk in Sharpsburg
“Squonk in the Neighborhood” is from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Kennedy Park in Sharpsburg. Squonk, a performing arts troupe, will present “Hand to Hand,” at 1 p.m.
The show is propelled by two giant puppet hands, each the size of a house, and rigged like a sailing ship. It is performed on a multi-tiered stage.

Show and Sell
Handmade Arcade’s “Show and Sell,” a free in-person pop-up marketplace featuring more than 20 emerging Pittsburgh makers, arts, and craftspeople, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Construction Junction in Pittsburgh. There will be housewares, ceramics, wood, jewelry and more items for sale.

Pickleball
The Gamma Pickleball Classic is Friday through Sunday at the David Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown. More than 650 players – men and women — will participate in both singles and doubles competitions and various age groups and skill levels.
Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It can be played indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. It uses a paddle and a plastic ball with holes.
