Paper cutting artist discusses craft at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art program
The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley, 1 Boucher Lane, Ligonier Township, will host a Lunch a l’Art program with paper cutter Kathryn Carr at noon on April 18.
A self-taught paper cutter for more than a decade, Carr will share a history of the medium and her own experiences.
Carr shows and sells her art in galleries and at art festivals, and has a line of greeting cards sold nationally.
A Pittsburgh resident, she teaches paper cutting classes and has illustrated a children’s book.
“I will be talking about illustrating children’s books and my paper cut art and showcasing the book, ‘Lizbeth Lou Got a Rock in Her Shoe.’ I’ll also be talking a little about the book I am currently illustrating due out in the spring of 2020, ‘Lotte and Her Paper Puppet Pictures,’” Carr says in an email.
Carr is a Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh board member and a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
Cost for the program, which includes lunch and presentation, is $15. Reservations are required by April 12.
A SAMA auxiliary meeting will be held prior to the program at 11 a.m. Those interested in joining the auxiliary may attend the meeting; contact the museum or visit its Facebook page.
