Executive Director Michael Tusay announces award winners at the Latrobe Art Center Open Show reception on May 13, 2021.

Latrobe Art Center’s annual Open Show welcomes works by artists of all ages and experience levels.

The name was especially apt this year, as the center opened its doors for a May 13 reception that drew a group of people happy to socialize again after months of isolation.

“This is the first time we’ve really been out,” said exhibiting artist Sherrie Dunlap Gallagher, who attended with her husband, Sean Gallagher, and mother, Mary Ann Dunlap.

Executive Director Michael Tusay, who came to the center in January, said he was impressed by the depth of artistic talent revealed in the show. The center received 265 submissions from 110 artists for the show, and many are offered for sale.

Tusay announced a long list of awards juried by Kristin Miller, site coordinator of the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley.
