Pastel artist Stan Sperlak will present his work during a Lunch a l’Art program at noon May 23 at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley, 1 Boucher Lane, Ligonier Township.

Approximately 65 of the New Jersey-based artist’s works will be featured in an exhibit there through Aug. 4.

Program cost for “The View from My Easel: Pastel Landscapes of the East Coast,” is $15, and reservations are required.

According to a museum release, Sperlak paints an array of works inspired by surrounding areas such as South Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. He is featured in many galleries found throughout these areas, including an appearance in the permanent collection of Noyes Museum in Oceanville, N.J.

Sperlak is a descendant of a Slovakian immigrant coal miner who settled in Connellsville in 1887, the release states.

The museum will host a SAMA auxiliary meeting prior to the program, at 11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining the auxiliary may attend.
