Master Visual Arts exhibition hits Heinz History Center
The Senator John Heinz History Center is opening a new exhibition featuring the work of accomplished local artists.
“Master Visual Artists VII: Preserving the Legacy,” opens Dec. 14 and will remain on display in the museum’s Barensfeld Gallery through Sept. 13, 2020.
The exhibit is presented in partnership with the Master Visual Artists project, a local group dedicated to recognizing the lifelong achievements of influential artists in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
It’s the seventh exhibition by the Master Visual Artists since 1991, and the first since 2013 (hosted by the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts), according to museum officials.
A variety of mediums will be featured, including acrylic and watercolor paintings, sculpture, fiber art and pottery, as well as a theater with a video exploring each artist’s legacy and life story.
Their stories will be documented and preserved for future generations in the History Center’s Detre Library & Archives, a release adds.
The exhibit’s master artists include Rochelle Blumenfeld, Robert L. Bowden, Richard Claraval, Sylvester Damianos, Joan Iversen Goswell, Dale Huffman, Ruth G. Richardson, Mary Weidner, and Patricia Kennedy-Zafred.
Also exhibiting work are Greensburg artists Kevin O’Toole and Susan E. Laansma Pollins.
Initiated in 1991, the Master Visual Artists project recognizes and honors mature local artists whose work has shown excellence.
