Latrobe Art Center is accepting work for its annual Open Show, a virtual exhibition running June 1-30. Shown are 2019 Open Show award recipients (from left) Doreen Currie of Latrobe, Lily Currie of Latrobe, Mary Beth Ponitz of North Huntingdon and Jerry Scorpion of Port Vue.

Latrobe Art Center is inviting artists of all experience levels, ages 3 and older, to submit entries for its annual Open Show.

“At Latrobe Art Center we believe in ‘Art for All’ — art for artists of all ages and experience levels. We want artists, aspiring or experienced, to showcase their work for the Greater Latrobe community and the southwestern Pennsylvanian region,” the center says.

Because of covid-19-related restrictions on gathering sizes, this year’s entries will be included in a virtual exhibition on the center’s website from June 1-30.

Awards are given in a variety of categories for professional and amateur artists, including Best in Show; Open Division; Awards of Distinction for pencil/ink, acrylic/oil, watercolor, mixed/3-D and photography; and Amateur Artist, College Artist, Junior Artist and Young Artist divisions.

Applicants do not have to be center members or gallery participants to submit work. Up to three entries per artist will be accepted. Entry fees are:

• Latrobe Art Center gallery participants: $25 for 1-2 entries; $30 for 3

• Nonmembers: $35 for 1-2 entries; $40 for 3

• All students: $5 for 1-3 entries.

Artwork will be accepted through May 28via these links:

• Latrobe Art Center gallery participant registration

• Nonmember registration

• Preschool through college student registration

Judge will be Bill Karaffa, a Pittsburgh-based artist who specializes in portraiture and figure drawing. He is a member of the McMurray Art League, Pittsburgh Pastel Artists, the Pittsburgh Society of Artists Guild and the Portrait Society of America and has shown his work in various juried art exhibitions.

Virtual award presentation will begin at 7 p.m. June 11 on the website and the center’s social media accounts.
