Pittsburgh PBS station WQED will have to find a little extra shelf space, following its 14 Mid-Atlantic Emmy wins during the 37th annual award ceremony, held Sept. 28 at Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh.

WQED is a first-time winner of the prestigious community service award for its “Future Jobs Initiative,” as well as for best documentary for “The Great Ride,” an epic journey covering the 335-mile hiking/biking trail between Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.

“WQED is extremely honored to receive these Emmy Awards, especially awards for community service and best documentary,” president and CEO Deborah Acklin says in a release.

”The awards are truly testaments to the hard work of everyone at WQED who strives to produce programming that makes an impact on our community,” she adds.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Mid-Atlantic Chapter) presents the Emmy Awards annually in recognition of “outstanding achievements in television and allied media,” according to its call for entries.
