WQED hosts 'The State of Black Pittsburgh 2019' forum
In partnership with the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, WQED will host “The State of Black Pittsburgh 2019: A Community Forum,” on June 6.
The live town hall, part of the Urban League’s annual examination of political, social and economic conditions that impact the state of black Pittsburgh, will air at 8 p.m. on WQED-TV and live stream at wqed.org.
Educators, politicians, activists and community leaders will discuss the social, political and cultural issues that shape the community, and the steps that will lead to a future of equality, prosperity and inclusion, according to the television station.

Co-hosts are Chris Moore and Lisa Washington. Esther Bush, Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh president and CEO, will be featured.
Panelists include Father Paul Abernathy, Focus Pittsburgh director; Jalila Jefferson Bullock, Duquesne University School of Law, associate professor; Brian Cook, Pittsburgh Black Media Federation president; Rep. Austin Davis, D-35th; Tina Doose, Braddock Borough Council president; Rep. Summer Lee, D-34th; Lindsay A. Powell, assistant chief of staff, office of Mayor William Peduto; Will Tolliver Jr., Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh early childhood learning manager; and Victoria Watford, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre corps de ballet dancer.
