Filmed-in-Pittsburgh Netflix comedy “The Chair” will premiere on the streaming service Aug. 27.
The six-episode, half-hour comedy stars Sandra Oh and filmed locally earlier this year.
The series follows the chair (Oh) of a university English department and should not be confused with Starz’s 2014 movie-making reality competition series, also titled “The Chair,” that was produced locally by Pittsburgh native Zachary Quinto.

In other TV news, NBC’s “This is Us” will officially end with its sixth season, airing in 2021-22. It was long expected that would be the show’s swan song as series creator Dan Fogelman has said he had six seasons’ worth of stories to tell.
And Pittsburgh natives Billy Porter and Zachary Quinto will provide voices for the 2022 Disney+ animated series “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” which picks up the story of the 2001-05 Disney Channel series.
Porter and Quinto, respectively, voice Randall and Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins, mixed-race adoptive parents to 14-year-old activist Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins (Keke Palmer).
