All eight episodes of Amazon Prime Video’s “A League of Their Own,” which filmed throughout Western Pennsylvania in 2021, will finally premiere on the streaming service on Aug. 12.

The series is inspired by the 1992 Penny Marshall-directed film of the same name that starred Geena Davis and Tom Hanks. Prime Video’s “League” was co-created by series star Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham (“Mozart in the Jungle,” “Alpha House”).

Jacobson stars as Carson, one of the players on the Rockford Peaches team, which is coached by Casey “Dove” Porter (Nick Offerman).

Chante Adams (“Bad Hair”), D’Arcy Carden (“The Good Place”), Alex Desert (“Better Things”), Molly Ephraim (“Last Man Standing”), Gbemisola Ikumelo (“Roadkill”), Roberta Colindrez (“Vida”), Melanie Field (“Heathers”) and Dale Dickey (“Claws”) are also in the show’s cast.

Rosie O’Donnell, who was in the 1992 movie, plays a new bartender character in at least one episode of Prime Video’s “League.”

Amazon says the series will evoke the spirit of the classic film even as it widens its lens to explore race and sexuality among the new ensemble of characters.

The show’s teaser trailer, released today, includes a glimpse of Carrie Furnace in the background of one scene.

Other filming locations included Arsenal Lanes in Lawrenceville, the Benedum Theatre, the CCAC Boyce Campus baseball field, Turner Field in Wilkinsburg, Morrell Field in Aliquippa, Tobin Studios in Ambridge, the Greensburg train station, Crafton and private properties in Pittsburgh and Ambridge.

‘Dark Winds’

A 1971-set, six-episode noir thriller based on a Tony Hillerman book series, “Dark Winds” (9 p.m. Sunday, AMC) is a better-than-average, character driven crime drama that includes some echoes of “Longmire” while creating its own supernatural-tinged universe.

Tribal police Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon, “Fargo”) investigates a double murder that roils the Navajo Nation. He’s surprised when a new deputy, Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon, “The Red Road”), shows up unannounced.

Noah Emmerich (“The Americans”) co-stars as a racist, condescending FBI agent and Wilkinsburg native Jonathan Adams plays a gift store clerk who’s a pivotal link to a subject in Leaphorn’s investigation.

Created by Graham Roland (“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”) and executive produced by odd-couple-of-the-year Robert Redford and George R.R. Martin, “Dark Winds” is at its best when focusing on aspects of Navajo culture that give “Dark Winds” a unique flavor and at its most TV-unreal when officers wander into dangerous situations without calling for backup.

Fox’s fall

Fox was the only broadcast network not to announce a fall schedule last month but now it’s the only broadcaster to announce season premiere dates.

Fox’s schedule will remain relatively unchanged with just one new series, delayed country music soap “Monarch,” which will debut after Sunday NFL coverage at approximately 8 p.m. Sept. 11 before moving to its regular time slot, 9 p.m. Tuesday after “The Resident,” on Sept. 20.

On Mondays “9-1-1” will air at 8 with “The Cleaning Lady” at 9 beginning Sept. 19.

“Masked Singer” stays put at 8 p.m. Wednesday followed by “Lego Masters” beginning Sept. 21.

With no Thursday night football (it moves to Amazon’s Prime Video), Fox will air “Hell’s Kitchen” at 8 p.m. followed by “Welcome to Flatch” (9 p.m.) and “Call Me Kat” (9:30 p.m.) starting Sept. 29.

“WWE Friday Night Smackdown” stays in its time slot as do the Sunday night animated shows, which return with new episodes Sept. 25.
