Trevor Noah sat behind the “Daily Show” desk for the final time Thursday night.

Seven years after stepping into the role, Trevor Noah bid farewell Thursday night on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.”

During his final episode, Noah thanked his fans and audience, as well as Black women in his life and in America. He appeared to become teary-eyed when talking about Black women and the lessons he’s learned from them. Noah called being at the helm of the satirical news talk show an honor.

“Every seat that has ever been filled to watch something that I’m doing, I always appreciate it,” he said.

The comedian, a native of South Africa, was a correspondent for a few months on the show while it was anchored by Jon Stewart before being tapped for hosting duties, according to CNN. Noah said he plans to take time to himself to spend with family and friends and travel more. He has a comedy tour planned next year around the country.

Several correspondents weighed in during the show to say goodbye to Noah as did regular folks around New York City. The Los Angeles Times reported Noah gathered with the correspondents during a commercial break for a group hug and final photo.

During a commercial break, the network played a montage of goodbyes from the likes of Oprah, Vice President Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The show will be on hiatus until Jan. 17. Then, a series of guest hosts will take over, including Chelsea Handler, Kal Penn, Sarah Silverman and Marlon Wayans.
