Viewers with photosensitivity to flashing lights should use caution when watching “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the movie studio said.

Walt Disney Studios along with Epilepsy Foundation issued a statement last week, saying the film contains several sequences with imagery and sustained flashing lights that may affect those with photosensitive epilepsy.

The Epilepsy Foundation thanked Disney for being proactive in providing information in advance of the movie’s release.

The foundation says that for about 3% of people with epilepsy, exposure to flashing lights at certain intensities or visual patterns can trigger seizures.

They offer tips for people that are concerned, including have a friend watch the movie first, so they can alert the viewer to which scenes contain the flashing lights.

Also make friends aware of the three steps of seizure first aid — Stay, Safe, Side — so that they can assist in the event of a seizure.

According to CNN, similar warnings accompanied Disney’s “Incredibles II,” released last year.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the conclusion to the Skywalker story, opens December 20, 2019.
