Bayside’s back, baby!

With today’s announcement of NBCUniversal’s new streaming service getting a new name — Peacock — is word that one of its new series will be a reboot of “Saved by the Bell.”

According to a story by The Hollywood Reporter, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley are already on board, while Mark-Paul Gosselaar is in talks to return as well.

The comedy centers around A.C. Slater (Lopez) and Jessie Spano (Berkley), now parents, of students at Bayside High. It turns out that California Gov. Zack Morris (Gosselaar) has closed too many low-income high schools and is forced to send the affected students to the highest-performing schools, which includes Bayside.

Oh, those Bayside kids are in for a treat, huh?

Gosselaar is currently on ABC’s “mixed-ish,” but has said he would be very interested in another shot at his “Bell” character.”

“If it was a good product that I thought wouldn’t tarnish the original product, yeah, I’m open to hearing anything,” Gosselaar said on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. “I love what they’ve done with Cobra Kai. That type of reboot is what I would be interested in exploring.”

“Saved by the Bell” ran on NBC for four seasons on Saturday-morning TV. There’s no word on whether other stars Dustin Diamond, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen or Lark Voorhies will come aboard also.

Peacock will launch in April 2020.

Can’t wait that long? Well, lucky for you Lopez, Berkley, Gosselaar and Diamond will be among the stars meeting and greeting fans at December’s Steel City Con in Monroeville. For $60, you can get your photo taken with the star of your choice. Or for $190, you can pose with the whole group.

Speaking of reboots, Peacock is also reported to be at work on a fresh take on “Punky Brewster,” with Soleil Moon Frye starring as an adult version of her spunky young character.
