Pittsburgh Pop podcast: Talking new movie casting call, North Shore concerts, Steelers game, ‘A League of Their Own’
In this episode of the “Pittsburgh Pop” podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss Pittsburgh pop culture news of the moment, including the weekend’s concerts on the North Shore and TV coverage of the first Steelers pre-season game.
The pair discuss Amazon Prime Video’s “A League of Their Own” and Green Tree native Zachary Quinto on NBC’s “Who Do You Think You Are?”
And there’s a new, untitled theatrical film from director Ethan Coen (“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”), one of the Coen Brothers (not the one married to Monessen’s Frances McDormand), that will film in Western Pennsylvania soon. The movie, about two queer young women in 1999 on a road trip from Philadelphia to Tallahassee and starring Margaret Qualley (“Maid”) and Geraldine Viswanathan (“Miracle Workers”), seeks extras and actors for speaking roles at an outdoor open casting call Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., at 3 Rivers Studios, 4100 Steubenville Pike. Masks and covid-19 vaccinations required.
Pre-register by sending and email to castingpennsylvania@gmail.com including the subject line “Pre-Register 8/20” and in the body of the email include first/last name, phone/email and two recent cell phone photos.
