Me-Yow! 'Cats' movie trailer draws catty reactions
“Cats,” one of the most successful musicals of all time, will hit the big screen Dec. 20 as a live-action movie. The first trailer has dropped and the internet has opinions — from “unsettling” to “nightmarish.”
Let’s take a look, shall we?
CNN has this to say: “There’s a good chance your coworkers are all watching the ‘Cats’ trailer, and there’s a very good chance they’re all horrified by it.”
OK, then.
You don’t know fear until you’ve seen the #CatsTrailer

Based on Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ musical (based on T.S. Eliot’s whimsical poems), the movie’s star-studded cast includes real-life cat lover Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Rebel Wilson, Idris Elba, Jason Derulo, Dame Judi Dench and Ian McKellen. All decked out in slinky cat suits — or what the producers call “digital fur technology.”
It’s an image you can’t unsee.
Reminds me of a wacked out nightmare I had while plugged into a week-long Fentanyl epidural. In fact, #CatsTrailer might be worse. pic.twitter.com/AWjZklqdSn

I was joking when I said I’d have nightmares. Woken up at 3am in a cold sweat thinking about Dame Judi Dench’s cat face with Jellical Cats stuck in my head. #CatsTrailer pic.twitter.com/KMa65bUg7l

They’re the Jellicle Cats preparing for the Jellicle Ball, a yearly event at which Old Deuteronomy (Dench), the tribe’s leader picks the most deserving cat to ascend to a sort of cat heaven to be reborn and return for a new life.
This tribe of Jellicles prowls and leaps about on super-sized furniture and other settings to make them look realistically cat-sized.
why do they look like that#cats #CatsTrailer pic.twitter.com/ccnO0CIa9q

Not surprisingly, Swift was all about donning the cat suit:

But how did everyone else feel about it?
Nobody told me Garfield was a horror movie #CatsTrailer pic.twitter.com/kw1fRvtibO

Or about some of the other characters?
This is why Idris Elba couldn't be the new James Bond.#CatsTrailer pic.twitter.com/k9ZWya0sti

Director is Tom Hooper, best known for his work on “The King’s Speech” and “Les Misérables.” As Grizabella, Hudson sings the blockbuster hit song ”Memory” — but you might have to close your eyes to enjoy it.
I...I mean, I'm so excited to hear Jennifer Hudson sing Memory, but the animation is so terrifying??? pic.twitter.com/bfjGRvfQYr
