Local women artists subject of WQED's 'Visible'

Digital artist Lori Hepner is among five local female artists featured in the WQED documentary ‘Visible.’

WQED will premiere a new documentary profiling local women who who create art through diverse media.

“Visible” will be shown at 8 p.m. April 25 on WQED-TV, and will be available online at www.wqed.org/visible

Five western Pennsylvania women will show their work and share stories of the rewards and challenges of being female in their chosen fields.

Highlights will include features on:

• Gloria Stoll Karn, known for her 1940s pulp fiction art;

• Alisha B. Wormsley, whose interdisciplinary work examines gender, race, class and time;

• Lori Hepner, digital artist who focuses on light painting and photography;

• Jo-Anne Bates, abstract print artist who captures the language of daily life;

• Dee Briggs, a sculptor whose chosen medium of steel traces back to her roots.
