Western Pa. native Amy Wadas will exit KDKA-TV on July 14 for an anchor/reporter job in Denver.

KDKA reporter/anchor Amy Wadas is leaving her hometown station for a new adventure in the Rocky Mountains.

Wadas announced Monday on social media that July 14 would be her last day with KDKA-TV, which hired her in 2014.

“This was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” Wadas wrote on Twitter. “Pittsburgh is my hometown and I always dreamed of working at KDKA, the station I grew up watching.”

The Chartiers Valley and Penn State graduate will be joining KMGH-TV in Denver as an anchor/reporter.

“It was an opportunity that was too good to pass up,” Wadas wrote. “I can’t wait to get started, get to know the community and grow as a journalist here. To top it all off, I can’t wait to hike allllll the mountains.”

Before KDKA, Wadas worked at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati and WTRF-TV in Wheeling, W.Va.

Her husband, Lawerence Synett, worked in media relations for UPMC and Carnegie Mellon University. He took a social media director job at the University of Colorado Denver.
