Saxophonist Jason Kush will perform with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra as it celebrates its 50th anniversary with a John Williams salute.

Edge-of-your-seat music will conclude the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra’s 50th season, with a special salute to film score composer John Williams.

“The Music of John Williams” concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 11 at the Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg.

The program will feature classic film music from “Star Wars, “Jurassic Park,” “Harry Potter,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “E.T.,” “Far and Away,” “The Patriot” and more.

Guest saxophonist Jason Kush will perform music from the 2002 Steven Spielberg film “Catch Me If You Can,” orchestra officials say.

Considered to be one of the most successful composers for film, Williams has received five Academy Awards and 50 Oscar nominations. He also is the recipient of seven British Academy Awards, 22 Grammys, four Golden Globes, five Emmys and numerous gold and platinum records.

Those attending are encouraged to don their favorite costumes, with a prize awarded at intermission.

“We wanted to wrap up our 50th season with a fun concert that is perfect for all ages. We encourage families to dress up and plan for a fun night out with plenty of photo ops,” says Endicott Reindl, symphony executive director.

Artistic Director Daniel Meyer will conduct the performance.
