Writers group seeks funds to help publish its literary journal
Ligonier Valley Writers are seeking donations to assist with printing costs of the 2019 edition of “The Loyalhanna Review,” the annual literary journal the group has been publishing since 1991.
“The 2019 issue will definitely come out in July. The only question is how many copies we’ll be able to print,” the group says. “Most years we print 1,500 copies. When LVW’s finances are especially healthy, we spring for 2,000. But with our current bank balance, we can afford only 1,000 copies.”
The journal features poetry, essays, fiction, photography and other artwork submitted by area writers and artists, with some submissions also coming from around the United States.
“The Loyalhanna Review” is distributed free. The editorial staff, writers and artists receive no compensation.
“We have people who distribute the magazine throughout southwestern Pennsylvania for free; they don’t even ask for reimbursement for gas, much less their time or labor,” the group says. “All contributions, large and small, are appreciated at any time, but gifts made by June 24 will be especially helpful.”
LVW is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, so all contributions are tax deductible. Donors will receive a receipt and their names will be listed in the magazine and on the group’s website, unless they request anonymity. Donors who cannot attend a July 13 publication party will be mailed two copies of the review.
Checks made out to “Ligonier Valley Writers” can be sent to LVW, P.O. Box B, Ligonier, PA 15658.
