Glass City Swing Band Arts, Education and Wellness is hosting a dance benefit at DeNunzio’s Italian Chophouse in May.

The location has changed — slightly — but the GCSB Arts, Education and Wellness’ Westmoreland County Air Show WWII Dance Benefit will go on as planned.

The event will be held from 5:30-10 p.m. May 25 at DeNunzio’s Italian Chophouse at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport, rather than in a plane hangar, and promises a fun night of music, dancing, and a 1940’s fashion costume contest.

The fundraiser will provide support for education and wellness through Swingin’ With Creative Arts Therapies and help with operational costs, says Jill Procida, director of philanthropy.

The nonprofit expressive arts program is for individuals with special needs and introduces participants to the Swing Era, according to its website.

Planned is a cash bar, silent auction, buffet dinner and live entertainment by Glass City Swing Band.

“This is our first season hosting this style of fundraiser, and we hope to accomplish our fundraising goals, and increase social awareness of health conditions, learning and cognitive disabilities, mental health disabilities, mobility and physical disabilities, emotional disabilities, and many more,” board member Raven Dickson says in a release.

“We hope this will be an annual event,” Joy Procida says.

Band musical director, she and her twin sister, both Jeannette residents, are co-founders of the group.

The band’s Heart of Glass Trio will perform some Andrews Sisters arrangements, the two add.

“We’re excited about it. It’s going to be nice,” Jill Procida says.

Registration deadline is May 7 for this 18-and up event. Tickets are $40, or $25 for students.
