Mandy Moore, from the cast of “This Is Us,” attends the NBC 2019/2020 Upfront at The Four Seasons New York on Monday, May 13, 2019.
Mandy Moore and her crew completed their trek to Mount Everest base camp in Nepal.
The 35-year-old ”This Is Us” actress successfully completed her trek into base camp, which sits 17,600 feet above sea level, on Monday morning.
She posted a photo and message to her Instagram page to mark the event.
“There is so much magic in these mountains. They represent adventure in the grandest form and in a language all their own,” she wrote on the Monday post.
She thanked Eddie Bauer, who outfitted her trek, and Melissa Reid, the first American woman to climb Everest without oxygen, who guided her along the way. Her friends Ashley Streicher and Chase Weideman also are on the trek, according to People.
Moore also acknowledged the climbers that have died in their treks. At least 11 climbers have died this year, in what has become a very busy climbing season for those attempting to reach the 29,035-foot peak.
Among the dead this year are Americans Christopher Kulish, 62, of Colorado, and Don Cash, 55, of Utah.
“It’s impossible to be lucky enough to arrive at the foot of these mammoth peaks and not be attuned to the palpable energy of all of those who came before and lost their lives in these mountains,” she posted.
“The wave of emotion: respect, reverence, appreciation….that washed over us as we took in the prayer flags and yellow domed tents of basecamp AND sat on the rocks regarding the chortens that dot the hillside of the Tukla Pass the day before, profoundly.”
Reid commented that it was “Just a true honor to share this very thin air with you.”
On Wednesday Moore shared several more photos and thoughts on the hike.
“There’s no way to distill this experience down to a few sentences. There’s no way to encapsulate what coursed through our veins and brains living in the mountains this past week. It will come in time. I think I’m slowly learning that I feel most like me when I’m outdoors,” she wrote.
This was one of several hikes Moore was completed. She climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with fiancé Taylor Goldsmith in March and in New Zealand as a pre-cursor to Everest.
She has said she has more hiking on her bucket list.
