Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce dies at 20

Cameron Boyce, a 20-year-old actor who is best known for his roles on Disney Channel’s “Descendants” and “Jessie,” has died, ABC News reported.

A family spokesperson told ABC that Boyce died in his sleep after suffering a seizure, which was the result of “an ongoing medical condition.”

Boyce made his acting debut at 9 years old, appearing in the movie “Mirrors.” He also appeared in Adam Sandler’s “Grown Ups” two years later, when he played one of Sandler’s kids.

Boyce his mainstream stardom with his role as Luke on “Jessie,” which ran for four season and 98 episodes.

From there, Boyce became Carlos de Vil in “Descendants,” a TV movie series that follows the lives of Disney’s “bad guys” (in his case, Cruella de Vil).

He also was set to appear as a regular on “Mrs. Fletcher,” a new HBO series starring Kathryn Hahn.

“From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world,” Disney said in a statement. “He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend.”

Disney also lauded Boyce’s humanitarian work.

Last year, he earned the Pioneering Spirit Award from the Thirst Project. Boyce raised $30,000 to build wells in Swaziland for clean drinking water.

“As a young man, he was fuelled by a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives through his humanitarian work,” Disney said. “We offer our deepest condolences to his family, cast mates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”
