The Pittsburgh Banjo Club honored its founder Wednesday just the way Frank Rossi would have wanted them to.
They played.
Rossi, who founded the club 30 years ago, died Tuesday. He was 83.
The club played some of Rossi’s favorite tunes during its weekly performance Wednesday at the Allegheny Elks Lodge on Pittsburgh’s North Side.
“I’m going to miss Frank dearly,” said Norm Azinger, the club’s musical director and the person who in recent years took Rossi’s place at the front of the stage as the founder’s health declined. “And have missed him, because I’m up there making a fool of myself, and Frank, he liked to make a fool of himself.”
The Pittsburgh Banjo Club plays every Wednesday night at the Elks lodge. It is free and open to the public.
