Minor league report: Penguins shut out by Monsters

Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 21 saves on 24 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who were shut out by the Cleveland Monsters, 3-0, at Rocket Arena in Cleveland on Saturday.

The result dropped Murashov’s record to 11-2-0.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (37-21-7-1, 82 points) was shut out for the fifth time this season as a losing streak grew to three games.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the rival Hershey Bears on Friday, 7:05 p.m.


Linemates Gabe Klassen and Logan Pietila each had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-4 loss to the Reading Royals at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Jordan Martel recorded two assists for Wheeling (40-24-3-1, 84 points) which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Goaltender Thomas Gale made 30 saves on 35 shots as his mark fell to 1-1-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Royals on Sunday, 4:10 p.m.
