A husband and wife died Sunday evening in a murder-suicide in Manor, police said.

The wife, Theresa Day, 51, was found dead inside her Frederick Drive residence around 6:20 p.m. as a result of a gunshot wound and her husband, Jeffrey Day, 62, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Manor Borough police Chief Randy Carlson and Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson. A family member had discovered the bodies, Carlson said.

The couple were pronounced dead at around 10 p.m. Sunday, Carson said.

“It’s a very, very unfortunate event,” Carlson said.

County detectives are assisting Manor police in the investigation, said Melanie Jones, a spokeswoman for Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli.

Carson could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
