Thrills and chills will lurk around each corner at Haunted Guyasuta but only for the bravest souls.
The annual fall-themed fest features age-appropriate scares for the entire family — from the fright of your life to good old-fashioned fun.
“This is one of my favorite times of the year,” Ranger Mike Daniher said. “I love seeing families enjoy the camp and the event.”
Hosted at the 175-acre Camp Guyasuta in O’Hara, the event is scheduled for 3 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19.
Tickets are sold online. Tickets are $25 from Oct 15-19 and $30 at the door.
Participants must have a signed consent form, available online.
In its 15th year, Haunted Guyasuta guarantees time for the little ones to enjoy all the best of what camp has to offer, Daniher said.
From 3 to 6 p.m. is designated “no scare,” when families can enjoy a hayride, climbing wall and bonfire. The Trading Post will be open with food for sale.
The Haunted Trail will be only slightly eerie, with some ghosts and pumpkins along the way.
Later, from 6 to 9 p.m., the fright level climbs considerably. The wooded grounds transform into a zombie-filled graveyard where goblins and other ghouls pop out at random.
Daniher said a limited number of tickets will be sold online for the twin 1,000-foot valley-to-valley zipline. Cost is $20 per ride. Riders must be at least 11 years old.
Camp Guyasuta is owned by Scouting America. The property dates to 1918 when it was donated by the great-granddaughter of General O’Hara.
More than 65,000 visitors enjoy the amenities of camp year-round.
Volunteer Lou Flores said the preparations for spooky season are arduous, considering the amount of decorations, signs, lights and costumes that transform the grounds.
“It’s all worthwhile seeing the kids and families enjoy themselves,” Flores said.
