A Unity woman is accused of using a man’s vehicle without his permission for a day and making almost $2,000 in unauthorized purchases and withdrawals with his credit card and bank debit card, state police at Greensburg said.

The suspect, Bruna M. Leonard, 54, of Tabby Lane, is accused of driving a neighbor’s new car to make unauthorized trips on July 29 and using the neighbor’s bank debit card and credit card to make several payments and withdrawals between July 19 and 30, according to court papers. At least two transactions were made to an account with Leonard’s name associated with it police said.

She told state police that she used the vehicle to go to work and planned to use it to visit a friend, even though the owner said it only was to be used to drive him grocery shopping and for appointments, according to court papers.

Leonard faces charges of financial exploitation of an older adult and unauthorized used of a vehicle.

Leonard could not be reached for comment Thursday.
