LAS VEGAS — In the fourth round of the NHL Draft, the Penguins selected defenseman Chase Pietila at No. 111 overall.

The 20-year-old right-hander spent last season with Michigan Tech. In 40 NCAA games, he posted 22 points (three goals, 19 assists).

Previously, Pietila (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) played for the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League and helped that team win the Clark Cup championship in 2022-23.

His brother, forward Logan Pietila, appeared in three games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season after signing an AHL amateur tryout contract in April. Logan Pietila is signed to a regular AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.
