Richland residents will see their property taxes hold steady for another year, according to the proposed 2024 budget.
“Richland’s Township’s millage rate remains unchanged from last year,” township manager Dean Bastianini said.
For 2023, a millage rate of 2.696 mills is levied on all commercial, residential and non-exempt real property.
The lion’s share of the general fund budget is allocated towards public safety and highways.
“If you look at our general fund budget, 34% of it is spent on public safety. Another 34% of the budget is spent on highways. Our priorities and our money are in public safety and the highways,” Bastianini said.
The majority of Richland’s public safety funding goes toward policing.
The proposed general budget for 2024 is $9.9 million, a 6.4% increase from the $9.3 million budget in 2023.
Richland’s earned income tax in the 2023 budget was $2,725,000. The proposed amount for 2024 is $2,880,000. The state determines the levels of income tax.
