Fox Chapel Area High School is hosting a summer community blood drive Aug. 11 at the Vitalant Harmar/Fox Chapel Donor Center from 1-6:30 p.m.
People 16 and older are encouraged to donate blood.
Vitalant once again is offering scholarships to area high school students. To qualify, Fox Chapel Area High School is hosting this summer blood drive and will sponsor additional blood drives throughout the 2022-2023 school year.
Schools that host blood drives compete against each other for scholarship money that can be earned for the number of students participating, how many pints of blood are donated, and how many drives are hosted.
Anyone who donates blood at a local donor center separate from the Fox Chapel Area blood drive can ask for the donation to count toward its total, code HS010025.
To schedule an appointment, go to: https://donateblood.centralbloodbank.org/. Those who have donated before with Vitalant or Central Blood Bank should choose “Donor Login.” Those who have not donated before should choose “New Donor.”
At the “Schedule your Appointment Today” screen, scroll down using the far right scroll bar and enter group code HS010025 to schedule your donation.
For those who cannot schedule online, please call 412-209-7000, or contact Cyndi Funk at 412-477-2957 or cfunk@vitalant.org. Donors are strongly encouraged to make an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome.
The community outreach committee of Fox Chapel Area High School Student Government is coordinating the blood drive.
