Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jaylon Ferguson died from “the combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine,” according to a report in the Baltimore Sun.

The Sun said the announcement came from a spokesman with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner there.

Ferguson, 26, was found dead in his north Baltimore home on June 22. A spokesman for the office told the Sun that a written autopsy is not available but “the agency’s goal is to have one 90% completed within 90 days.”

There were no signs of trauma, according to reports, and it is being called an accident, although the Sun said the investigation is “still ongoing.”

The Ravens issued a statement, according to the Sun, that read: “Our priority is focused on the man Jaylon was and the positive impact he made on so many as a father, son, fiance, friend and teammate. It would be inappropriate for us to comment further while we continue to support his family and teammates, who are mourning the tragic loss of a loved one and will celebrate his life tomorrow.”

Ferguson’s funeral is reportedly scheduled for Saturday in St. Francisville, Louisiana.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Ferguson was the Ravens’ third-round pick out of Louisiana Tech in the 2019 draft. He played in 38 games, making 10 starts since then, and had 4.5 sacks.

Ferguson was the third NFL player to die this offseason.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins was killed in April when he was struck by a dump truck while walking along a South Florida highway after his car ran out of gas. Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney was killed in a car crash in Dallas on May 30.
