Allegheny County Police said a man shot and killed his neighbor in Kennedy Township on Friday afternoon before killing himself.

Officers were notified of a shooting on Jane Street around 2:45 p.m., police said.

Responding officers said they found a 78-year-old man later identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office as Robert Dietrich outside a residence dead from gunshot wounds.

Authorities called Pittsburgh Police SWAT to assist in apprehending the suspect, a 58-year-old man, who lived next door.

Police said the suspect was found inside his home, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The medical examiner’s office identified him as Charles Collins.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate. No further information was available.
