The Norwin School District Thursday afternoon lifted the modified lockdown that the school district had been under since early morning as a result of a bomb threat, Superintendent Jeff Taylor said in a message.
The district did not release any details of the bomb threat, which it announced around 11:45 a.m. School officials said around 1:15 p.m. the modified bomb threat had been lifted.
Those with information regarding the bomb threat are asked to contact a building principal or the North Huntingdon Township police at 724-863-8800. Information can be reported at any time on the district’s anonymous Safe2Say tip line at 1-844-SAF2SAY or 1-844-723-2729.
Police Chief Robert Rizzo could not be reached for comment.
In a modified lockdown, the district isolates students and staff inside the school from any potential danger outside. Classes continue as much as possible, but no one is permitted to enter the buildings or leave. Outside events, field trips or outside activities, including recess, were prohibited, unless cleared by the administration.
