Residents of Monroeville and Pitcairn elected four people to the Gateway School Board.
James Lomeo, who was cross-filed, received the most votes with 4,187 (20.2%).
“I would like to thank everyone who voted. Community participation is the most important thing to move the Monroeville/Pitcairn community forward,” Lomeo said. “I would like to congratulate the successful candidates and hope the unsuccessful candidates stay involved. We were fortunate in that everyone that ran was highly qualified.”
Rounding out the top four were incumbent Democrat Robin M. Mungo with 3,796 votes (18.31%), Leslie McBride, who was cross-filed, with 3,569 (17.22 percent) and Democrat Mandal K. Singh with 3,132 (15.11%).
“I am so excited with the results of the race,” Mungo said. “I was extremely excited in the very beginning to see so many candidates that were running in the primary, and then for the four that were voted in to be all from different backgrounds to have a diverse group is a win for the district. I know that we can all work together and I’m really looking forward to meeting the new board members.”
Singh is also looking forward to serving on the school board.
“As this was my first run for a public office, I was fortunate to have full support of friends and family,” Singh said. “Having spent my entire career in academia, it is time to give back to the community.”
Gary DeLorenzo was fifth with 3,084 votes (14.88%), followed by incumbent Scott Williams with 2,906 (14.02%). There were 54 write-in votes (0.26%).
School board president Brian Goppman and director Rick McIntyre did not seek reelection.
