John Sewatka of Ross didn’t care that it was raining buckets most of the morning and the fish weren’t biting at North Park.
The chance to spend the day “catching up” with his 17-year-old son Matt was reward enough.
“There’s not a whole lot of things you can do with teenagers these days that will get them to put down their phones,” said Sewatka, 45. “I like to fish and so does he, so we try to do this whenever we can.”
Rather than cancel their day out because of the heavy downpours that rolled through the region, the pair took refuge from the rain in a lakeside shelter where they continued to cast their lines in the hopes of snagging a big one.
“It’d be great if we caught something, but it really doesn’t matter,” Sewatka said. “This is about just spending some time with each other.”
