A two-week closure of a 1-mile section of Coxcomb Hill Road in Plum will begin at about noon Monday, weather permitting, PennDOT announced Thursday.

Coxcomb will be closed between Kerr and Logans Ferry roads through June 7 while crews work on drainage improvements and shoulder reconstruction.

Through traffic will be prohibited around-the-clock and traffic will be detoured, the agency said.

The posted detour from east of the closure will take traffic across the New Kensington Bridge into East Deer, down Freeport Road through Springdale Township, Springdale and Cheswick to Harmar, and across the Hulton Bridge into Oakmont to get back to Coxcomb Hill Road.

The distance from the New Kensington Bridge to the Hulton Bridge is about 6.5 miles.

The detour from the west will be the same route in the opposite direction.
