Northern Regional police are investigating after a camera was found inside a unisex bathroom of a Target store in Richland Township.

Company spokesman Brian Harper-Tibaldo said an employee discovered the recording device in the restroom of the store along Route 8 on April 26, and immediately turned it over to store leaders who then called the police.

Chief John Sicilia said the camera was designed as a USB charger, and investigators believe it was deliberately placed in that area. Police obtained a search warrant, confiscated the camera and were able to interview witnesses for information.

“Target’s top priority is the safety of our team members and guests,” Harper-Tibaldo said. “We provided (police) with video footage, gave them the device and provided them with other information they requested. We have no tolerance for this kind of activity in our stores and will provide the North Regional Police Department with what’s needed for their investigation.”

Sicilia said they searched a suspect’s Butler County home, and the investigation remains ongoing. No charges have been filed and no further information was released.
