Allegheny County on Thursday reported fewer than 300 additional cases of covid-19 for the 12th consecutive day.
The county added 224 cases to bring its total to 75,724 since the pandemic began last March.
Of the additional cases, 174 are confirmed via 1,065 new PCR tests and 50 are recorded as probable, according to the county Health Department. One positive test was reported to be more than a week old.
Health officials define a probable case as one in which a patient has a positive viral antigen test or covid symptoms with a “high-risk exposure” to someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.
The dates of the positive tests ranged from Feb. 11 to Wednesday, according to the Health Department. Those testing positive ranged in age from 6 months to 91 years with a median age of 35 years.
The seven-day average of cases in the county is 238 per day.
The new cases were in the following age groups:
- Ages 0-4: 7
- Ages 5-12: 2
- Ages 13-18: 16
- Ages 19-24: 24
- Ages 25-49: 84
- Ages 50-64: 39
- Ages 65 and older: 34
The county reported two additional covid-related deaths to raise the total to 1,654. The deaths occurred on Feb. 12 and Wednesday. One person was in their 70s and one in their 80s. The county reports that one death was associated with a long-term care home.
According to state data, there are 206 Allegheny County residents currently hospitalized for covid-19, with 57 in intensive care units and 21 on ventilators. A total of 5,090 county residents have been hospitalized at one point for covid-19.
There have been 356,133 people who tested negative for the coronavirus.
